I recently went to one of my favorite store, I usually go here to look for cheap (but quality) finds.  I really have no intentions of buying anything then (?)...at first, I mean hehe! While waiting for my hubby, I made myself busy instead. I headed to Cosmetics Section (where else pa ba? ^_^) The store doesn't carry imported brands but locally made makeup's only which is fine.  There are quite a number of local cosmetic brands out there that are yet to be seen and discovered.  And look what i found.....tadddaaa! Super Sale of Fanny Serrano's makeup line! Selected items from P399, P295 to P75.00 only. Yes, it's true ladies! There are only 3 selections to choose from: Powder Foundation, Powder Blush and True Light Liquid Lipstick. All items are in good condition, definitely. According to the sales lady, the reason why some items are on sale is due to over production (or whatever that is)..I tested everything after this review and they are all good: the colors, pigment, everything!

Left: Powder Blush in Silky Coral - this is actually my favorite shade. It's a combination of coral and pinkish shade (close to NARS Orgasm actually) Right: Powder Blush in Cinnamon Silk - it's matte finished and good for morena skin. It can also be used as eye shadow for contour. The shade is much darker in person compared here maybe due to lighting.
As for the eyeshadow, there's only 1 shade available that is on sale "Fire"
It has four palettes in one compact with 2 sponge applicators. I'm not a fan of sponge, I'm more comfy using either my ring finger or brushes for precise application. I was quite hesitant to buy it at first (though it's only P75.00 it's still money you know ^_^) I want to make sure that I'll be using all four shade so it won't put to waste. Okay, so let's review the four colors: (upper left) Yellow shade with a bit shimmer on it which can be use for highlight, (upper right) Brown on satin finished (lower right) Orangey shade both can be used on lids up to the crease part, and last (lower left) Red-Orange shade which is good for contour.

I'll definitely check more of their items. I'll try to makeup a simple demo next time on how to blend and apply them correctly. Hope you love them as much as I do! ^_^

I immediately head off to Landmark to check out their Cosmetics Fair since there's only 2 days left before the sale ends.  I went straight to cosmetics section (excited and all) and asked every sales person on their promos. I was so disappointed when they said that they run out stock and almost 40% didn't join the cosmetics fair (oh..that made me sad seriously :(
Well, on the other hand there's a (default) 10% less on each item you'll purchase. So I checked on my other favorite spot instead...MAKEUP TOOLS!  From afar, I could already see some new items (since I'm an avid fan of Landmark, shopping here and there, I would notice changes from one shelf to another haha!) I love brushes..super soft brushes and I'm also particular with the handle (I don't know if I'm weird or it's just me who's partcular with that as well) Anyway, I saw these brand : Artist Studio (i kind of like the brand name itself) it comes in individual pouch.
I bought 5 brushes, they are all synthetic (except for the blending brush) which can be used in applying foundation, concealers or any cream type of makeup.
(L to R) Flat top foundation brush for only P119.75; Foundation brush - P79.75; Eyeshadow brush which can also be used in applying concealer for P49.75; Blending brush made of synthetic and natural hair which you can buy for P59.75 and Eyeliner brush for only P49.75 See! They are very much affordable.  All brushes are less 10% so i got all items for only P322.87 instead of P358.75! What a great deal isn't it?!
Flat top foundation brush (P119.75).  A synthetic bristle, flat-topped round brush used for buffing powder-to-cream foundations
Foundation brush (P79.75). To achieve a flawless foundation application and create a polished look better use a foundation brush (just don't forget to blend it well)
Eyeshadow/Concealer brush (P49.75) has synthetic bristles too.  Perfect for cream type eyeshadows and concealers
Blending brush (P59.75) A blending brush gives you greater control over the subtle tones and pigments of your makeup. Made from synthetic or real hair, blending brushes are easy to handle and maintain.
Eyeliner brush (P49.75) can help you achieve soft definition or bold drama, depending on the medium and look you like. The brush's sharp, slanted design lets you create both precise angles and thick wings that take up more surface area on the lid.
I must say all of these brushes are very soft, dense and a must purchased! Why buy super expensive brushes when you can achieve same quality on a much lesser price right? It doesn't matter if your brushes are branded or not, it's how you take care of them that matters and how to make their shelf life longer. Go girls, head on and purchase your first makeup brush!

I'm one of the thousands (or even millions) FD's (Franchise Dealer) of Avon Philippines since 2007.  On top of my lists are their promising cosmetic line: from foundation, powders, to lipsticks, mascara and eyeliners.  I don't normally make reviews on products that I use, but recently I was inspired by a friend who happens to be a known Makeup Artist in the industry.  From there, I saw the advantage of sharing some tips, tricks and recommendations on makeup products and application.  I recently post some of my kikay kit essentials which includes Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown, Smooth Minerals Lipstick in Pink Quartz also their pressed powders. (see below)
To be honest, only Avon pressed powder works for me. I tried the super mildest J & J thinking it's better for my skin but to my surprise I got pimples a day after (sorry ^_^).  Then, when I became a member of Avon the first thing that I purchased is their Simply Pretty pressed powder in Almond shade (love that shade it blends well on my fair skin).  Then later on I switched to Avon Luminous Powder, happy with it as well.  But right now I'm using Smooth Minerals Pressed Powder in Sand Beige (this I swear is so perrfeccct for my skin) and I sticked to it since then. And I always grab one everytime it's on sale!

For now, I'll be giving some inputs on Avon's Smooth Minerals Eyeliner.  What I normally use is their glimmersticks. Aside from the consistency of the product which I love,it's retractable too! Well perhaps, there is no big difference in terms of quality just the colors maybe.  The "original" glimmersticks comes in two shades (which I both have): Cosmic Brown and Blackest Black. One can wear it in any part of the day.  As for the Smooth Minerals Eyeliner, it has 3 wonderful shades: Iris, Indigo and Onyx.
Minerals on makeup? That alone is a plus factor for me. It's not harsh and very much good on our skin.  I'm very excited to try these on.  So when I arrived home, I immediately tried each.
I simply LOVE the colors and they are all wearables!  I opted not to use eyeshadow here to give emphasis on the eyeliner.  Iris shade is more on the purplish side (goes well with pink or mauve eye color) while Indigo is bluish.  Onyx is the safest among the 3 so I decided to just try the other 2 shades instead.
These Indigo shade is perfect for night events and parties because of its super vibrant color. Only a few is brave enough to carry this color but don't be ladies! A perfect shade of lipstick like nude and coral ones can go well with it. Eyeliners really plays a vital role in eye makeup.  It makes the eye much lovelier and livelier! What I like most is that it glides on skin perfectly that you don't have to put so much product on it.

Next time I'll try more of their products and share it with you guys.

So, are you excited to try it on too? Well, what are you waiting for call on your Avon representatives or better yet be one of them to avail of huge discounts and freebies!

I've been looking forward to this since the day I pre-registred via FB.  From then on, I would always check on Maven's page for updates and the confirmation message. And when I finally received one..said to myself..this is it gurl! : ) With that, I immediately texted my friend Kat to join me and this also serves as our kikay bonding moment (since we haven't seen each other from the time she arrived from Saudi) Maven staffs I must say were very accomodating specially the ones in the registration area. Since my friend Kat advised that she'll be super late and make "habol" na lang, I immediately ask the girl in the reg area if she could still join in and she said absolutely yes. Thanks to you dear! And also super thanks to Abi Porticillo, so nice of her. Finally, we met.

I had a hard time going to the venue, is it because it's raining or it's pay day Saturday that it took me hours before I finally got a cab..Whew! Still, I was able to arrived early. I was the 8th participant who registered. Lucky 8! Find out how and why....^_^

It's my first time ever to join this event and I must say "I REALLY ENJOYED IT MUCH!" The makeover, tips from the experts, beauty workshop, the raffles in between activities and freebies of corz! ^_^ (Sweet Patti Cakes and Manny O Wines pink champagne)

Right after the workshops, Me (left) and Kat had our picture taking on Maven's photo wall.

Very charming host, MYX VJ Bianca Roque..absolutely no dull moment with her. Just wondering where she gets all that energy : )

First seminar was with Ms. Karen Ostrea of Global Image Management on power dressing, how to create a lasting impression and my fave topic which is color analysis. Hmmm..I think I'm a Red person...and sometimes Violet too! Red because I love attention hehe! and Violet for creativity. Aside from the makeup workshop that I've been eyeing for, this is the seminar which I really learned a lot.

Next, a makeover with Benefit. Love to have those products in the near future.

Can't help not to take pictures in between workshops hehe! only shows how glad we are to be part of this event ( I look so fat here : (  chubby cheeks!)

We're down to two topics...this is my fave part.  Face Shop's Makeup Workshop headed by Marge Apacible (hope I got her name right) Honestly, I'm a fan.  Been purchasing BB Creams, Moisturizers, Pore Minimizer and Scrubs for over 3 years now and it never fails. I'm happy with the results.  And more than happy when I received Face Shop goodies! Yihaaa!
They showed us 2 looks: (see below) day (semi) smoky eye makeup on the left and evening smoky eye makeup on the right. Love both looks! Being a Freelance MUA, tips and shared tricks like these are of big help to me. So love the dewy skin too!

This shows how lucky I am joining the Maven event! Not just 1, not 3 but a total of 7 "beauty" goodie bags! Super love 'em ol!  Don't care how I'll get home carrying all these (with heavy rains that is) I just can't wait to share the fun experiences I had during the event with my family and hubby. Speaking of sharing, I shared some to my friend and family (my sister who really chosed Kiehl's and Burt's Bees lip balm, gave my mom Nivea lotion and purse from Beauty Bar, to my cuz-L.A. Colors loose powder, Nivea facial wash and soaps from Prime Skin Asia, and to my hubby-Nivea Deo for Men)  So excited to try Benefit's POREfessional sampler and other products too.
Thanks to you MAVEN! And Congratulations for a successful event. Keep it up! Looking forward to your next event and the coming issues.

Picture
Kikay Kit 1: Etude House Plumping Lip Tint (really works!); NYX
Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Natural

Swatches (left-NYX lip gloss, right-Etude plumping lip tint)

Picture
Kikay Kit 2: Etude House Easy Brow Pencil #2 and Palladio Brow Pencil in Brown (i normally use pencils when i feel like having full brows)

Picture
Kikay Kit 3: Fanny Serrano Quad eyeshadow and Mahogany Wood
(single eyeshadow)
What's nice about these items is that they can also be used as
eyebrow powder (see swatches) I don't use black for eyebrows it's mature looking, go for lighter shades instead. Black can be use for
contour.

Picture
Kikay Kit 4: Fanny Serrano BB Cream in Oriental -- good for fair
complexion. Been looking for a replacement for my face shop bb cream then happen to see this one. It's actually 4-in-1: foundation, concealer, moisturizer and has UV protection. So far, I'm satisfied with it. Just found the right shade of BB cream that matches my skin tone : )

Picture
Kikay Kit 5: Avon Glimmersticks Eye Liner in Cosmic Brown.  I love this product! If you're not comfy using gel eye liners or eye liner pen type then better try retractables. Been a fan of this product for over 5 yrs now. It gives that kind of precision you've been eyeing for : )

Picture
Kikay Kit 6: Majolica Majorca Blood On (limited edition)  It's a lip and cheek tint. BB Cream plus these will give you a perfect dewy skin. Doesn't leave any stain on your fingers even after application.

Picture
Kikay Kit 7: Suesh brushes plus Mary kay lip line brush. This is my personal brush set. Have 5 kinds of eyeshadow brushes, i'm very particular with eye makeup so I need to have a complete (at least) eye brushes. One all over brush for face, eye liner brush, eyebrow brush and mascara wand.

Picture
Kikay Kit 8: Avon Smooth Minerals Lip Gloss in Pink Quartz
I must say, Avon products are of good quality yet affordable. This kind of gloss can bring you a long way, from no makeup look to day makeup and even matches a smokey eye makeup. Uneasy applying lip stick directly on your lips (especially on makeup counters)? Then try applying it on finger tips it's the closest shade of your lips : )

A perfect dinner right after the trial makeup with Mary Kay staffs.
Want to know what makeup I wore that night? Simple.
Face Shop HD BB Cream (Natural Beige)
Kanebo Concealer for zits and undereye circles
Avon Minerals Pressed Powder
Palladio Eyebrow pencil in Brown
Maybelline Colossal Mascara
and
Revlon Blush/Bronzer in Peach for contour

Makeup done in 5 minutes! If I just wanted a fresh everyday look, I use BB Creams (any brand actually) I love that dewy "Korean"skin look (who doesn't anyway?!) ^_^
